Agreement on the research reserve: Innovation Fund Denmark will realise DKK 1.7 billion. DKK in 2024

A broad majority of the parties in the Folketing have now reached an agreement on the Research Reserve 2024. See how the funds for Innovation Fund Denmark are distributed.

Based on the agreement on the research reserve, Innovation Fund Denmark disburses DKK 1,728 million. DKK in 2024.

Innovation Fund Denmark must now translate the agreement into concrete results through calls and pools, which can be published when the overall Finance Act has been adopted.

We expect to be able to tell you more about the investment opportunities in 2024 immediately before the new year.

The research reserve's allocation of funds to Innovation Fund Denmark:

• DKK 320 million is earmarked for a strengthened strategic green research and innovation effort within the four green missions:

  1) Capture and storage or use of CO₂ (CCUS)
  2) Green fuels for transport and industry (Power-to-X etc.)
  3) Climate and environmentally friendly agriculture and food production
  4) Circular economy with a focus on plastics and textiles
   

• 340 million DKK is earmarked for green research, technology development and innovation in seven areas:
  • Energy production etc.
  • Energy efficiency improvement
  • Agriculture and food production
  • Transportation
  • Environment and circular economy
  • Nature and biodiversity
  • Sustainable behavior and social consequences (transversal)
     
• 370 million DKK is earmarked for strategic research and innovation within digitization and new technologies, which contribute to solving global challenges and to creating growth in Danish business life
   
• 316.5 million DKK is earmarked for strategic and challenge-driven research, technology development and innovation within life science, health and welfare technology
   
• DKK 100 million has been earmarked for a strategic research program within quantum technology
   
• As something new, this year DKK 100 million has been earmarked for research and development of artificial intelligence.
   
• It is also proposed that 1.7 million be set aside. DKK in 2024 to support the business PhD scheme for Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

In addition to the above, 188 million DKK, which is expected in FFL24, included in the total grant. In the end, DKK 8.1 million was deducted. DKK in administrative funds.
